KENTUCKY HIGHYWAY INDUSTRIES HOSTS ITS ANNUAL CONVENTION IN ARUBA
Last week, the Kentucky Association of Highway Contractors, along with the Kentucky Crushed Stone Association and Plantmix Asphalt Industry of Kentucky, hosted our annual convention in Palm Beach, Aruba. We had excellent attendance at the conference, having over 330 people in attendance and 70 member companies represented (over 60 of them KAHC members). Attendees got to enjoy a motivational message from our keynote speaker, Dennis Swanberg, hear about industry dynamics from ARTBA’s Chief Economist Alison Black, hear a presentation on environmental products declaration from PAIKY Executive Director Brian Wood, watch a video panel discussion with KYTC leaders (James Ballinger, John Moore, Matt Simpson), hear a state transportation funding update from KAHC Executive Director, Chad LaRue; and hear a report on the status of the KHIPAC fund from KCSA Executive Director, Nick Rodgers. During this conference the three associations also held our annual business meetings. Each association installed new board members and leaders, KAHC's new board members are listed in a separate article below.
In additional to the valuable business sessions provided for the attendees, events and activities were planned to provide ample opportunities for members to network, strengthen industry relationships, and make new business connections. Our thanks to those that attended and participated in the conference. The attendees, along with our generous sponsors, are what allows us to provide such a high-quality program for our members to attend.
Mary Joan Foundation: It has become a custom of the KHI Convention to support a local charity during our convention in an effort to give back to our host community. This year we supported the Mary Joan Foundation, which provides support and services to Aruban residents dealing with breast cancer and other types of cancers. In addition to the $5,000 given by the convention to provide support to the Mary Joan Foundation, another $1,200 was given by individuals attending the conference. We are very proud to provide this support and thank all the attendees for supporting this effort.
We hope to see everyone in St. Thomas at the Frenchman's Reef, February 10-17, 2024.
